Ubisoft released a teaser, with Sam Fisher being voiced by none other than Michael Ironside.
Last we saw Sam Fisher was four years ago. He was fighting a rogue agent in the Middle East, who almost brought the US on its knees. We haven’t seen him since then, partly due to Ubisoft working on other projects, like AC: Origins, Far Cry 5 and Rainbow Six Siege.
But we may soon see him again. Ubisoft has released a teaser, in which we can hear him talk to the Third Echelon. The voice seems to be of Michael Ironside, who voiced Sam Fisher for every Splinter Cell except Blacklist, where he was voiced by Eric Johnson. We can hear the transmission between him and Paladin, where Paladin says, ““Langley has sprung a leak and they need us to stick our thumb in it. Brush up on your Spanish, you’re headed for Bolivia.” To which Fisher replies, “Look, I may need some extra firepower. I’ve got friends in that neighborhood. Call the Ghosts.”
We do not know if either cameo or Fisher will be a playable character as of yet. But we do know that Fisher will be the par of Year 2 content for Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Ubisoft will release further details regarding the crossover on Monday, April 9th. The new update will come to Ghost Recon on April 10th and will have new content for PvE mode as well as PvP mode, dubbed as Special operations update. There will be a total of four updates. The campaign will have “special free missions and special challenges with exclusive rewards” and Ghost War will have new content as well. Each update will be based around a theme, and we are guessing one them will have something to do with Splinter Cell.
What this means for the future of Splinter Cell is not yet known. There was a rumor about Splinter Cell 2018 reported (via PC Gamer) previously. Also it would be a nice time to mention that a Splinter Cell movie with Tom Hardy is in the works.
