A new update rolled out on Nintendo’s fastest selling home video game system (in the U.S.), the Nintendo Switch, this March 13, 2018. The patch mostly included improvements for the Switch, as well as some features for Parental Controls. Here are the things you need to know about the Nintendo Switch System Update 5.0.0.
Protect your children from harmful content using the improved Parental Controls.
You can now create a whitelist of Switch games! This makes life easier for parents, as games under the whitelist are excluded from being blocked in the Restricted Software setting.
Now, your little ones will not have any access to your album based on the games in your Restricted Software setting. Screenshots and videos of your gameplay will be hidden as well depending on the Software Rating Organization.
Nintendo also improved the Parental Controls PIN input system by making the user enter using the control stick and the Switch buttons.

Check out your Friend Suggestions tab. This will now display your Facebook and Twitter friends who use the Nintendo Switch. Now you can add them up!
Show off your profile with some new icons!
The Nintendo Switch System Update 5.0.0 comes with not just one but 24 brand new profile icons!
Joining the icon selection are the characters of the Switch’s fighting game, ARMS. We can see Min Min, Ribbon Girl, and Spring Man!
You can also choose from Kirby and the gang, especially now that Kirby Star Allies is about to launch in a few days’ time.
And the minor stuff on this update…
Download will start faster on digital software purchases, even while your console is on Sleep mode! You will also receive a notification once a pre-purchased software has finished downloading and is ready for playing.
Your News feed is now customizable, as you can pick to display unread news or news from channels that you like.
Lastly, you can now see the colors of you Nintendo Switch Pro Controller grip in the console’s menu.
