The 20 vs 20 mode will be available starting March 8th and will feature 5 teams of 20 players which will battle against each other.
Just a few hours ago, Epic announced a new 20 vs 20 mode for the game. This game mode will feature five teams of 20 players each. It is clearly an evolution of 50 vs 50 mode. Since the teams will be this large, we can see some amazing buildings coming out and a lot of hilarious clips.
The 50 vs 50 mode sure did give us some epic battles, but 20 vs 20 will create downright havoc. Since it will be difficult to co-ordinate with such a large team, we can expect a lot of confusion as well. Also expect a lot of explosives, in this mode, like grenades and rocket launchers. They will take a lot of importance as there will be a lot of structures to destroy.
This a part of the attempt by Epic to keep Fortnite fresh and new. A little while ago, Epic had put up a blog post where they detailed their plans for new limited time modes. The 20 vs 20 mode is the first step towards their plan. “We’ve been using multiple data points (including your feedback) to iterate our existing [limited time modes]’s and to build brand new LTM’s”, they said in their blog post. We are planning to quickly spin up a dozen or so LTMs, some of these may be more straightforward (e.g. along the lines of Sniper Shootout, Sneaky Silencer etc.). We also use LTMs to test new Shooting Models.”
Some of the new game modes are:
Blitz Mode (shorter matches!)
Drop into the first circle
Generally less time between circles
Team sizes in between 50-versus-50 and squads
50-versus-50 version 2
For how long this mode will be active, we do not know as of yet. We might see even more content like jet packs, as Epic teased earlier this week. But we will know for sure when the patch drops.
