“The floor is lava” among the new game modes. Other modes will speed up rounds or reduce the size of map.
Fortnite is all the rage right now. Epic’s free to play Battle Royale game has surpassed even PUBG in terms of concurrent player count. And they show no signs of stopping. In a recent blog post, Epic has announced new game modes coming to Fortnite.
The game modes will be for a limited time, much like the 50v50 game mode in the past or the current Sniper only game mode. The first five will be rolled out in the next month, and five more in the month after that.
Among the game modes will be a reworked 50v50 game mode, called 50v50 v2. It will have more supply crates and a bus for each team. Another mode will include dropping within the first circle. There will also be a Blitz mode with shorter rounds. The blog also said that Epic is working on modes with “generally less time between circles” and one with “team sizes in between 50v50 and squads.”
The post further added:
“We are planning to quickly spin up a dozen or so LTMs, some of these may be more straightforward (e.g. along the lines of Sniper Shootout, Sneaky Silencer etc.). We also use LTMs to test new Shooting Models.”
Other than that, the blog mentioned a few more changes. Fortnite will be removing SMGs, possibly permanently, as they test new weapons. They are also working on server stability and optimization issues. The post further mentioned that there will be a 60 FPS mode for the consoles.
Epic will also be fine tuning the audio. In the new version, the audio for footsteps will vary depending on whether the player is above you or below you.
