AoV vs. League of Legends! These are two of the prime competitors of MOBA games of this era. Have you noticed their quirky similarities?
The clash between Arena of Valor and League of Legends has been in a buzz lately. This comes despite them being in different platforms. MOBA games as we know it are nurtured in one condition: to take your champions to the next level, skirmish with foes and destroy the enemy’s “Heart”. In this sense, both games are a lot more similar than you think.
However, as gamers, we should commonly approach this in a positive way. Looking at a different perspective, these kinds of similarities are what makes both of them awesome, regardless of who copied whom. That being said, let’s take a look at some of the uncanny similarities and differences between AoV and LoL.
It’s also fair to note that they are both owned by Tencent Games. That’s another reason why they’re so similar.
Brushes and map design
Their brushes and map design are very similar. They basically act the same way and keep every champion out of danger. It can even set things up for awesome plays. Comparing the two, there’s really not much difference, just some minor altercations like the pits where the main creatures are hibernating. Awesomesauce!
Champion Origins and Lores
These two games have such a rich history on their sheet as to where they came from. The games’ champions/heroes are inspired either from Greek God tales or Futuristic stories that are passed on from ages. Cao Cao, Wukong, and Lu Bu could be an example. AoV and League of Legends have champions that can be compared to each other, hence discussions can be formed on which has the stronger creation. Interesting indeed.
Game Style and Jungling
It’s safe to say that all MOBA’s are similar to each other. However, some heroes and champion play styles are different yet the same to the point where it confuses some people. Jungling for one thing is a common similarity in which every jungle of each respective platform has a path that they can choose. The game style is the same. Basically, you nuke people out and win the game. League of Legends however takes a little bit longer to finish than AoV. It could be a good thing or a bad thing. Eitherway, these games are marking their territory in a whole new level this year.
Gamecon will feature both events, happening later today!
In the Philippines, the Gamecon event will be featuring both games like we’ve never seen them before. Fans of AOV can get a free starter pack just by being there, while League afficionados slash students can battle it out among themselves in the Inter-Collegiate tournament at the Rift. Gamegeek will be providing you with the play-by-play, so don’t miss it! See you there!
