Everyone is going on mobile nowadays. Our favorite collectible card game is no exception.
Magic: The Gathering publishers venture into the smartphone industry
American game publisher Wizards of the Coast is working on a new game. After their success in the collectible card industry, they are going to explore the mobile game industry for the first time.
This game will be in partnership with South Korean game publisher NetMarble. NetMarble is responsible for titles like Grandchase, Dragon Ball Online, and Lineage 2: Revolution.
Is Project M just another mobile MOBA game?
The working title for this collaboration is Project M. The two publishers revealed little about Project M, but Wizards of the Coast and Netmarble hinted the possibility of the project to be a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game.
Known MOBAs on the mobile platform are Mobile Legends, Vainglory, and Arena of Valor.
In a trailer released by American website VentureBeat, Wizards of the Coast and Net Marble already gave fans an idea of how Project M would look like.
The trailer showed off human planeswalkers Liliana Vess, Chandra Nalaar, and Ajani Goldmane. The three can be seen fighting dragons and minions in a barren land.
According to a press release sent to MMORPG website, players will be creating strategies as they traverse through the MTG multiverse.
Project M players will get to choose their Planeswalker, modify their deck of creatures and spells, and show off their creativity and strategy as they battle across the planes of the MTG Multiverse. Each creature & Planeswalker will be fully animated as they race across the battlefield to defeat their opponent.
Furthermore, the developers are promising fully animated game avatars for the said mobile game.
Wizards of the Coast promises to reveal more about the game as it gets closer to its release date.
Expect Project M to be released sometime this 2018.
