Felix xQc Lengyel of Overwatch League team Dallas Fuels has been suspended for the remainder of stage 1.
xQc is in big trouble. After his team Dallas Fuel lost 4-0 to Houston Outlaws, he reportedly passed homophobic remarks at Austin “Muma” Wilmot. According to Kotaku, the spat happended when Muma used the line “rolled and smoked” during the OWL stream. This is the line xQc is known for, and it got him riled up. “No, you didn’t smoke shit. Shut your fucking mouth,” Lengyel said. “Go back there, suck a fat cock. I mean, he would like that.”
But it should be noted that xQc was not playing in that match. And considering the Muma is openly gay, this remark was bound to have consequences. xQc also later recognised in the stream that he had crossed the line. xQc later did apologise to Muma on twitter, and Muma accepted the apology.
No hard feelings at all and I apologize for what I said back. You're on a great team and I fully expect you to return to full force before playoffs. GL my doggie 😉

But Dallas Fuel did not take this lightly and announced that they will be taking a disciplinary action. Overwatch League later announced their decision on their official website.
He received a $2000 fine and was suspended for four matches by the league.
Their post read:
“As of Friday, January 19, Dallas Fuel player Félix “xQc” Lengyel is suspended for four matches and fined $2,000 for violating the Overwatch League Code of Conduct during his individual stream on Thursday evening. The Overwatch League takes standards of player behavior seriously, whether during league play or otherwise, and is committed to responding swiftly when violations occur.”
Dallas Fuel later tweeted that they were in full support of the OWL’s action. They extended his four-match suspension to the remainder of Stage 1.

In the meantime, other esports commentators expressed their support towards Overwatch League’s Decision. OWL analyst MonteCristo brushed it off as a “dumb” mistake. But djWHEAT, Firector of twitch studios made a strong objection to his tweet.
xQc should not get a pass for making derogatory comments to the only openly gay player in #OverwatchLeague. This goes for both public ridicule and direct punishment that should come from Blizzard and the Dallas Fuel organization.

I think the only thing to say tonight is that I would like to believe when pro players say something dumb that they are making foolhardy mistakes rather than being intentionally malicious.
Young people in the spotlight will make mistakes and learn.

I read this as: it’s ok to be racist and disrespectful before you are 25. IT’S NOT OK. It is ABSOLUTELY not OK. https://t.co/yxB4GSTLL9
