The mother of all controllers is back!
Many of us might remember the old, bulky Xbox. It was much like an oversized VCR, with all those bulky cables. Equally bulky was the big controller. It was unofficially dubbed The Duke. It is perhaps the most infamous equipment in the history of gaming. Many thought that the controller was comically oversized and many found it really very uncomfortable. It was eventually replaced by the smaller and more comfortable Xbox Controller S. The controllers that followed took their cue from the Controller S.
But now, the Duke is making a comeback. It was first announced on Twitter by Seamus Blackley. Seamus Blackley is one of the creators of the original Xbox and a proponent of the Duke controller. He confirmed that it has been approved by Microsoft, and he will work with Hyperkin. If you do not know, Hyperkin specializes in making controllers of the yore.

New controller in the old skin
The Duke will have many improvements over the old one, but “the same old feel”. It will be compatible with all the versions of Xbox, from the original to Xbox One. It will also be compatible with PC on Windows 10. The controller will also have a detachable 9 feet cable. And the Xbox logo in the middle will be replaced by an OLED screen with an animated logo. But it will have the dimensions of the original controller.

Also, we now have a date and price for the controller.
Hyperkin previously announced that it would be limited edition. Whether that will be the case, remains to be seen. But the controller sure is pricey. At the time of its release in March, the Duke will cost around $70.
