Our favorite Overwatch heroes will soon be donning League Skins!
Earlier this year Overwatch announced the Overwatch League. It will be the first of its kind league, with location-based franchises. Pretty much like traditional sports. And Blizzard has decided to put up team skins for sale next year. These skins will sport the color of your favorite teams and will be available for all the 26 heroes.
Blizzard took this approach to make it easier for the viewers to distinguish between the players’ teams. Just like traditional sports, the players will wear the colors of their team. But this time in the game. The home versions for all 12 team skins will be available as Overwatch League skins, and will be available in 2018.
In an announcement video, Overwatch League Commissioner Nate Nazner informed that they will also be releasing a new currency for Overwatch, called League Tokens. These tokens can only be used to purchase in-game Overwatch League content. He also informed that these tokens will help ensure that the teams receive a portion of sales from their team skins. “Just like with traditional sports jerseys, purchasing Overwatch League skins will provide monetary support for teams in the league, and they’re also a great way to show off your team pride in the game,” Nate Nanzer said in the announcement video. He also clarified that the tokens can not be used to purchase anything except Overwatch League content and team skins.
That’s not all
Blizzard has also been a bit generous. Upon the update’s releases, Overwatch players will receive enough League Tokens to buy a team skin. Yay!
